Foldic has been $29.99 up front since the day it went on sale. As of today the download is free, everything is unlocked for seven days, and after that running a backup needs Foldic Pro. Everyone who bought the app before this keeps all of it, forever. This note is about why — and about the one decision that actually mattered: how the app can know that you paid.
Why
Sales were weak, and I think I know why. A backup tool is something you have to run once with your own library and your own drive before you trust it: does it see the album with 40,000 photos, does it accept the exFAT stick, does it finish. $29.99 for the right to find out was asking a lot, and the numbers said so. So the trial is now the product. Download it, run a real backup, and pay only if it earned it.
What changes, and what does not
Free: browsing your albums, seeing what is backed up and what is not, choosing a folder, reading the log. Foldic Pro: actually running a backup, auto-sync, and deep compare. $2.99 a month, $29.99 a year, or $39.99 once — one plan covers Mac and iPhone, the same way one purchase did. The app itself did not change; 0.9.0 is the same engine with a door on it.
If you bought Foldic before today: no trial, no door. The app checks once, says “You bought Foldic before it became free. Everything stays unlocked, forever.” and never brings it up again.
How the app knows you paid
This was the whole problem. The obvious answers were all wrong:
A date saved on first launch — gone with a delete-and-reinstall, absent on your new Mac.
Which version you installed — the Mac and iPhone build numbers do not even have the same shape.
A flag in iCloud — unreachable for people who deliberately stay off iCloud, which is a lot of Foldic users.
What survives all of that is one date Apple keeps on the receipt: the day you first got the app, tied to your Apple Account rather than to the device. Delete, reinstall, new phone, erase — still there. So the rule is one line. First purchase before September 14, 2026: owner, forever. Anything after: a seven-day trial counted from that same date.
Picking the cutoff, and which way to be wrong
The date had to be chosen before I knew when Apple would approve anything. An error goes one of two ways. Too late, and a few people who downloaded for free on the first day get the whole app for nothing. Too early, and someone who paid $29.99 sees a paywall. Those are not symmetric, so I set it late on purpose — and it turned out to matter. The iPhone version was approved and went live ten days before the Mac one (approved versions release themselves; I had believed they waited for me), so for a few hours it was on sale at $29.99 while already carrying the trial code. I switched the price to free that hour. Anyone who bought in that gap is before the cutoff and keeps everything.
The rejection
Apple rejected the Mac build once: “cannot locate the in-app purchases.” My fault. In the review environment I had unlocked everything so the reviewer could never be blocked — and an unlocked app hides its plans, so there was genuinely nothing to locate. Fixed in a day: the review build now behaves like day one of a trial, unlocked with the plans visible. Which is exactly what you will see.
If you bought Foldic and ever see a trial countdown or the Pro sheet, press Restore Purchases. If it persists, email me from the log button and I will sort it out the same day. That should never happen, and if it does I want to know.

被退件那次
Apple 退過 Mac 版一次，理由是「找不到 App 內購買項目」。是我的錯：在審查環境裡我把所有功能全開，免得審查員被卡住——而一個已解鎖的 App 會把方案藏起來，所以確實沒東西可找。一天內修好：審查用的版本現在表現得像試用第一天，全開、方案看得到。和你會看到的一模一樣。

Foldic を購入済みなのに試用のカウントダウンや Pro の画面が出たら、「購入を復元」を押してください。それでも直らなければ、ログのボタンからメールをください。その日のうちに対応します。起きてはいけないことなので、起きたら知りたいのです。
